Mediacom Launches Mediacom Mobile on Verizon’s Network

Mediacom Communications announced the launch of Mediacom Mobile today, which will act as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) on Verizon’s cellular network.

The new service is available via unlimited and by-the-gig plans. The unlimited plan costs $40 per month per line and the by-the-gig plan costs $15 per month per gigabyte. Both prices include all taxes and fees.

Although Mediacom is partnering with Verizon, the new Mediacom Mobile website is advertising a 30% savings over “the Top 3 Mobile Providers” (which includes Verizon).

The MVNO will be able to link Mediacom’s Xtream Wi-Fi hotspots, which Mediacom says are available nationwide.

“Our core mission as a company has always been to bring the very best communications services

to the communities we serve,” Tapan Dandnaik, Mediacom’s Senior Vice President of Operations, Product Strategy and Consumer Experience.

“By combining a proven national wireless network with our fast and reliable fiber-rich Gigabit speeds, robust Xtream Wi-Fi capabilities, and simple, affordable pricing plans, we believe Mediacom Mobile creates a ubiquitous connected experience and a compelling wireless solution for consumers.”

Mediacom claims to be the fifth largest cable operator in the country. It serves 1.3 million households and business in 22 states. Their partnership with Verizon is not the first time a cable operator and a mobile network have partnered.

Breezeline, which calls itself the eighth largest cable operator in the country, introduced a MNVO in May. Breezeline Mobile was first launched in New Hampshire, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, Virginia and other markets. The plan was for the network to run on AT&T’s network, with the service itself developed for Breezeline by NCTC.

In March 2022, T-Mobile and Altice USA extended a cooperative agreement in which the telco served as the nationwide network for Altice’s USA’s Optimum Mobile service.
