Ritter Communications, a 115-year-old communications provider that operates the RightFiber brand, announced yesterday that it reached an agreement with the city of Ruston, Louisiana, to acquire the city’s fiber optic broadband network. Once the transaction closes — expected in the first quarter of 2025 — RightFiber will continue serving existing business customers in Ruston.
But RightFiber, which serves the mid-south, also plans to expand beyond the Ruston business community.
“This acquisition represents our commitment to delivering future-proof technology to Ruston’s thriving community and expands our company’s operations into the vibrant northern Louisiana area,” Ritter Communications CEO Heath Simpson said. “We plan to expand our 100% fiber network not only within the business community, but to Ruston residential neighborhoods as well, positioning the area as a regional broadband leader and making it a Gigabit City.”
Ruston Mayor Ronny Walker said, “RightFiber’s personal approach and future-minded vision set them apart as a service provider. As a dedicated municipal partner, RightFiber is invested in the success and growth of our community.”
RightFiber boasts its “Right by You” customer service guarantee. The company stands by its pledge of offering customers “the very best in available technology and customer service while serving as a trusted community partner.”
“The City of Ruston has taken proactive steps in planning for the growing need for top-tier fiber broadband. The decision to engage with RightFiber demonstrates their strategic foresight even further, which is focused on the growth and prosperity of their residents,” said Ritter Communications CRO Kyle Keith in the announcement. “We’re honored to support the economic growth of this community.”
Ruston is the next move for RightFiber after Ritter Communications announced, earlier this month, its network expansion into Paducah, Kentucky, as part of a $13 million investment which it plans to complete by summer 2025.
