Charter Communications has introduced Advanced WiFi for Businesses across its service area. The service is targeted at small- and medium-sized businesses.
Highlights of the upgraded service, which is available now, include Charter’s Red Dot design advanced Wi-Fi router, which delivers faster speeds with enough bandwidth to support up to 200 devices simultaneously, according to Charter. Speeds as fast as 1 Gbps are available and there are no data caps.
Enhanced customer control gives business owners the ability to manage who is connected to their network and to manually pause connections as needed. And improved security via Security Shield automatically detects and blocks malicious websites, phishing scams and internet-originated threats before they can enter the customer’s network, Charter said.
Customers also have the option of extending coverage with Spectrum Wi-Fi Pods which are additional access points that provide extended Wi-Fi coverage and more consistent speed throughout the business.
“Small businesses rely on technology, specifically the Internet and Wi-Fi, to compete in today’s marketplace,” Dave Rodrian, Group Vice President of Wi-Fi Products for Charter, said in a press release. “Now, with the launch of Advanced Wi-Fi throughout our footprint, we can offer small and medium-sized businesses faster and more secure Wi-Fi connections, giving them additional control over their network so they can improve their efficiency and productivity.”
Charter also is actively upgrading the Wi-Fi offering for its residential customers. Last July, Charter introduced Security Shield, an artificial intelligence-based cybersecurity product for Spectrum Advanced Wi-Fi customers. The technology detects and blocks malicious websites, phishing scams, and Internet originated attacks. The My Spectrum App tells subscribers which devices are connected.
Charter’s Spectrum brand serves more than 32 million customers in 41 states. Spectrum Business provides the same services as the residential business and adds features aimed at enhancing workplace productivity. Spectrum Enterprise aims at large business and government clients.
