The upside of self-installation of Wi-Fi is that it saves service providers time and money. The downside often is that the provider gets blamed no matter what the quality of the self-install. RouteThis believes they have a tool that can reduce the problem: RouteThis Self-Install, which directs the self-install process using artificial intelligence (AI) and other tools.
This, the company says, can increase customer satisfaction and reduce churn.
The platform is based on technology originally used to help service providers troubleshoot complex connectivity issues. It uses real-time data, AI, and dynamic troubleshooting workflows to guide the self-install process.
The press release says that RouteThis Self-Install works with all modem and router types. It quickly gathers more than 200 Wi-Fi data points and offers subscribers guides to installation.
The platform offers smart customer premise equipment recognition, intuitive instructions, Wi-Fi network and coverage testing, and device connectivity analysis. It offers service providers feedback in the form of robust analysis and installation data that can lead to smarter operational decisions.
RouteThis tools can be a white-labeled application or embedded via a software development hit, according to the press release.
“With self-installs now a central part of how ISPs onboard new Wi-Fi subscribers, success hinges on the ability to deliver a great customer experience from day one,” RouteThis CEO Jason Moore said in an announcement about the AI self-install technology.
“Our Self-Install platform combines deep network diagnostics, dynamic workflows, and intelligent automation to ensure subscribers can set up their Wi-Fi as quickly and painlessly as possible, while providers gain the insights and capabilities to make every install better than the last.”
As in the case of Wi-Fi self-install, AI has the potential to greatly enhance customer service and, ultimately, customer satisfaction.
In February, Anil Jain, the Global Managing Director, Strategic Consumer Industries at Google Cloud, told Telecompetitor that generative and agentic AI provide “more real-time data than any person can handle, and because you can process that you can discover new things and solve problems that are too complicated for one person to solve on their own. It’s like the discovery of a new drug or the creation of a new type of building material.”
