Vonage Launches Generative AI-Powered SIP Tools

Cloud communications company Vonage unveiled its latest product enhancement today, integrating generative artificial intelligence (AI) to its SIP Trunking services for easier business connectivity and to enhance customer service capabilities.

The new offering from Vonage, which is part of Ericsson, is designed for Vonage’s SIP Trunking customers. The new release has four components: (1) an updated SIP dashboard, (2) Vonage AI Studio, (3) Vonage Code Hub, and (4) Vonage Voice API.

Using Vonage’s new SIP dashboard, developers and businesses can set up elastic SIP trunks through a user-friendly interface, eliminating the need for on-site expertise.

The Vonage AI Studio is a “conversational” AI platform that lets businesses use generative AI to handle certain customer service and engagement tasks. Using natural language understanding (NLU) models, businesses can create virtual agents to power automated voice and text agents.

The Vonage Code Hub is billed as “a storehouse of prebuilt solutions for common communication workflows, such as voice and messaging notifications, speech-enabled IVRs, and digital media stream connections to third party AI platforms.”

Finally, Vonage Voice API uses tools like automatic speech recognition and text-to-speech to create programmable voice interactions for customer service.

“Omdia recognizes Vonage as a market-leading vendor in Omdia’s CPaaS Platform Providers Universe 2023-24 for its continuous innovation and comprehensive solutions that help businesses enhance customer experiences,” said Tim Banting, practice leader, Digital Workplace of Omdia, a global analyst firm.

“One such example is Vonage’s intelligent SIP offering, which allows businesses to customize and optimize voice and messaging with AI capabilities for a more personalized customer engagement without requiring developer expertise.”

Last February, it was announced that Vonage would be partnering with Verizon to develop APIs to let developers work within Vonage’s platform.
