Verizon Introduces Three-Year Price Lock

In an effort to gain new customers and keep existing customers loyal, Verizon is offering new and existing customers a three-year price lock on all plans.

Customers don’t have to do anything to get the price lock from Verizon; existing myPlan customers are automatically enrolled. If the customer changes the myPlan by adding or deleting options, the price lock resets for another three years.

In addition to the price lock, new and existing Verizon customers receive a free phone when they trade in any phone in any condition from Apple, Google, or Samsung. Verizon also announced that home internet routers will be included with every myHome plan at no additional cost.

“Today marks the next strategic step of the consumer business transformation journey that began two years ago,” Verizon Chairman and CEO Hans Vestberg said in a prepared statement about the price lock.

“We are redefining our relationship with consumers by building on our industry-leading network and innovative offerings. By giving unprecedented value and predictability across both mobile and home, we are establishing the new industry standard for a long-term customer relationship, supporting our path to improved retention, sustainable revenue growth, and long-term shareholder value.”

Though Verizon customers can enjoy the price lock, their rural customers don’t enjoy the same speed as T-Mobile customers, according to a recent report. T-Mobile subscribers in rural Florida who have access to 5G spend the most time of any state using it rather than LTE, according to a new report by Ookla. AT&T finished second and Verizon third.

The company found that T-Mobile has the largest percentage of 5G users spending time on 5G in both urban and rural markets.

The urban-rural groupings seem odd since there are rural areas in urban states (such as Connecticut) and urban areas in rural states (such as Las Vegas). Ookla used U.S. Census

Bureau data to make the urban-rural distinction. The research focused on the second half of last year.
