The acquired infrastructure in Cincinnati is adjacent to Brightspeed networks currently being built in Ohio and eastern Indiana.
North Carolina residents may have the opportunity to meet with one of the Brightspeed representatives, who are knocking on doors to spread the word.
Last September, Calix and ALLO Communications conducted a 50G PON trial (similar to the Brightspeed trail) in Lincoln, Nebraska.
“This new capital allows us to continue our aggressive fiber build strategy,” said Brightspeed Chairman and CEO Michel Combes.
The North Carolina grants awarded to Brightspeed provide approximately $244 million in funding to help connect nearly 108,000 households and businesses.
Brightspeed was also the largest winner (by number of counties) in North Carolina broadband funding made available at the end of last month.
