Verizon recently announced that they are pushing DSL into smaller Illinois communities, including Capron, Galva, Fisher, Greenfield, Norris City, Palestine, Paulton, Pearl City, Walnut and Wyoming. Verizon will be offering 3.0 Mbps downstream and up to 768 Kbps upstream for $19.99 per month for the first six months and $29.99 per month thereafter with a one-year commitment.
With all the hype surrounding FiOS and wireless service, we sometimes forget that the overwhelming number of Verizon broadband subs are DSL customers. DSL is still Verizon’s main competitive offering against cable modem and their primary competitive tactic is price.
