New York Extends BEAD Rural Broadband Deadline, Florida Begins Registration Process

The state of New York has extended the deadline for applications for the third round of its BEAD-funded rural broadband deployment program until May 12. Meanwhile, Florida has begun registering qualified parties for various broadband funding programs, including BEAD.

New York uses the name “ConnectALL” for a range of broadband funding programs. Of those, the one funded with $664 million from the BEAD program is known as the “ConnectALL Deployment Program.”

The state previously accepted applications for two rounds of funding in the deployment program. The request for applications in the third round, known as  “Priority, Reliable and Alternative Technology Solutions,” was released on April 14.

The ConnectALL New York BEAD broadband programs are administered by New York’s ConnectALL office.

Florida Registration Process

Florida launched the Broadband Grant Registration Portal on Monday. According to the state’s Office of Broadband, the portal is “a precursor to the Broadband Application Portal.”

As a press release explains, eligible applicants will preregister in the registration portal to receive credentials for the application portal. Preregistration will help confirm eligible entities before the state begins accepting applications for various programs, the state said.

The broadband office is preparing to open grant application windows for the BEAD Deployment Program, the BEAD Workforce Grant Program, and the Digital Capacity Grant Program.

“These programs will provide funding for broadband infrastructure, workforce and economic opportunities, cybersecurity and digital literacy initiatives across Florida, especially in Florida’s small cities and rural communities,” the state said in its press release.
