GVTC Communications Becomes Latest to Offer Multi-Gig Service

GVTC Communications has become the latest broadband service provider to start providing multi-gig internet services, offering 2 Gbps and 5 Gbps speeds via its MultiGig Fiber internet service.

The average home now has more than 25 devices running on WiFi, according to GVTC. The company says experts predict that, by 2030, the average American family will need speeds exceeding 2 Gbps for their typical streaming, gaming, and other needs.

The GVTC multi-gig service includes:

  • Symmetrical upload and download speeds
  • Price consistency via a price-locked rate
  • No contracts

“At GVTC, we strive to exceed the expectations of our customers,” Josh Pettiette, GVTC Communications president and CEO, said in the announcement of the multi-gig service. “The launch of MultiGig Fiber with 2-Gig and 5-Gig speeds ensures our communities have access to the most advanced technology, empowering homes and businesses to thrive in today’s increasingly connected world.”

GVTC isn’t alone; among others to launch multi-gig service within the last year are:

  • Greenlight Networks, which now offers an 8 Gbps fiber internet option, up from its previous fastest speed of 5 Gbps. At the time of launch, Greenlight also lowered its price by 25%.
  • SurfNet, which last fall has added six markets to its fastest broadband service — the Ultimate Plan — in Indiana and Michigan. The plan offers symmetrical service as fast as 8 Mbps. The latest Indiana locales were the Jackson Road area of South Bend, Portage and South Whitley. In Michigan, Howell, Webberville, and Williamston now will have access to the service, which initially was offered in Bristol, Indiana.
  • Visionary Broadband, which last December introduced 5 Gbps fiber service this month, more than double its previous fastest offering of 2 Gbps.
  • KWIKOM Communications, which launched its 5 Gbps symmetrical its markets throughout the state of Kansas.
  • Twin Valley, Kansas’ largest privately-owned broadband and communications company, which now provides 5 Gbps symmetrical service to its customers in Mulvane, Kansas.
