GFiber Expands Multi-Gigabyte Services

GFiber is expanding the availability of rolling a new suite of services after piloting them in Tennessee and Alabama over the past couple of months, the company announced this week. The services are immediately available for GFiber customers in Arizona and North Carolina. The company plans to make them available in other locations over the next month.

The new services are Core 1 Gig, with upload and download speeds of 1 Gbps for $70 per month; Home 3 Gig, with upload and download speeds of 3 Gbps for $100 per month; and Edge 8 Gig, with upload and download speeds of 8 Gbps for $150 per month. These GFiber services include free installation and other amenities.

In its announcement of the new services, GFiber pointed out that the price of Core 1 Gig hadn’t changed since 2012. Home 3 Gig is designed for homes that have multiple people working or gaming at the same time.  Edge 8 Gig offers connectivity at less than two cents per Mbps, which GFiber claimed is a market-best rate.

“It’s not about just getting ‘more,’ it’s about getting it right for you,” said GFiber Head of Product Liz Hsu in a blog post. “GFiber will keep working to evolve products and give customers an experience that meets their needs and anticipates and exceeds their internet dreams. Just as we’ve done since the beginning, we’re working to build the internet we’ve always wanted, no matter what your online life looks like.”

In addition to the expansion of the aforementioned services, GFiber has also been expanding its infrastructure, with a planned network in Bee Cave, Texas and starting construction on its network in Las Vegas, Nevada.
