Metronet Expands Fiber Network to Bloomfield, Indiana

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — April 28, 2025 — (BUSINESS WIRE) — Metronet, the nation’s fastest major internet service provider according to PCMag, has announced its 100% fiber-optic network in Bloomfield Township, Mich. This expansion is part of a privately funded, multimillion-dollar investment that will deliver ultra-fast, future-ready internet to homes and businesses—offering symmetrical speeds of up to five gigabits per second for residents and up to ten gigabits per second for businesses.

“Bloomfield Township is committed to providing the best possible infrastructure and services for our community,” said Mike McCready, township supervisor of Bloomfield Township. “Metronet’s investment is expected to improve local connectivity.”

Construction is expected to begin this summer, with the first customers expected to gain service by fall. Residents and businesses interested in signing up for updates and pre-sale opportunities can visit metronet.com/mi/bloomfield-township.

“We’re excited to welcome Bloomfield Township into our growing network of fiber-connected communities,” said Telly Whitfield, Ph.D., director of new market development at Metronet. “Reliable, high-speed internet is no longer optional, it’s essential to how we work, learn, and connect. We’re proud to help power the next chapter of growth in Bloomfield Township and the state of Michigan.”

Metronet’s fiber-optic technology provides symmetrical upload and download speeds, ensuring a seamless online experience for streaming, gaming, video conferencing, and remote work.

As construction crews begin work, residents can expect to see Metronet teams in the area. The company will notify residents at least 30 days before work begins through mailed letters, yard signs, and other communications. Metronet’s teams will be easily identifiable with company-branded vehicles and ID badges.

Metronet is also hiring for local positions to support its expansion in Bloomfield Township and across Michigan. Interested applicants can learn more and apply at metronet.com/careers.
