FairPoint Opens New Hampshire Data Center

Charlotte, N.C. (June 19, 2014) – FairPoint Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: FRP), a leading provider of advanced communications in northern New England, today announced the launch of its retail customer data center services with the opening of a data center in Laconia, N.H.

The data center offers businesses and public entities rack space in a physically secure, reliable location equipped with network connections to manage off-site disaster recovery, computing, storage and other IT equipment. FairPoint data centers are strictly controlled environments with the necessary power, cooling, connectivity and security features – like 24x7x365 video camera monitoring and keycard access – to ensure customer business continuity.

FairPoint’s data center enables organizations to quickly and cost-effectively scale and consolidate their IT systems to meet demand without incurring construction or excess staffing costs while maintaining control over management of both equipment and data. FairPoint’s data center offers a variety of options for space, as small as a half-rack to cages with thousands of square feet of space. FairPoint account managers work with customers to develop customized services to meet their unique needs – for remote storage and offsite compute capacity to redundant disaster recovery.

Banks, hospitals, government agencies and other companies of all sizes − from Fortune 100 multinational corporations to small start-ups − are discovering the benefits of offloading their data center needs to a trusted third party.

“As more organizations seek to reduce capital expenses and adapt to the ever-evolving technology and regulatory landscape, we continue to see the need for data center services,” said Chris Alberding, FairPoint vice president of product management. “The introduction of this service demonstrates our ongoing commitment to identifying and responding to the needs of our northern New England customers.”

FairPoint’s data center service also offers a secure connection to customers’ equipment over the largest fiber-core Ethernet network of its kind in northern New England, so data is transmitted over a high-quality, reliable, private network. With multiple choices of redundant network connections, customers can easily configure the connection that is optimal for their business.
