Press Release

WOODBURY, MINNESOTA – SEPTEMBER 23, 2014 – Dascom Systems Group, the leading integrator of IPTV to telecommunications companies since 1998, announced today it will be showcasing its Roku streaming platform at BroadbandVision, held October 1-3, 2014 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada. With BroadbandVision highlighting opportunities for success at every layer of the broadband carrier ecosystem, Dascom will be the featured solutions integrator at Booth 220 during the expo, and present a solution seminar for attendees entitled “BroadbandTV: Let’s Talk Details” on October 2 at 4:00 p.m during the conference program.

“We are looking forward to this show to keep momentum going on our adaptive streaming solutions. Our core business has always been traditional IPTV solutions and full headends, but we have seen this Roku streaming platform for OTT video emerge in our business as a cost-effective alternative for providers looking for a way to upsell broadband and retain new video subscribers.”- Scott Apfelbacher, Chief Operating Officer, Dascom Systems Group

According to a recent Digital TV Research study, over-the-top video services will be available in about half of the world’s TV homes by 2020. That vision combined with a recent article by CED Magazine citing broadband subscribers outnumbering video subscribers in the U.S. for the first time in quarterly results is demonstrating to service providers that there is room to grow for broadband video. Several service providers have launched TV programming over broadband to add value to their service and start retaining new video subscribers. Dascom has implemented, or is in the process of implementing the Roku streaming solution, to Waitsfield Champlain Valley Telecom, Baldwin Telecom, All West Communications, Granite State Telephone, Rainbow Communications and DuoCounty Telecom.

With a 60-day turnaround to launch, this cost-effective video offering can be provisioned, integrated, launched and marketed to begin achieving results in under three months’ time. For Dascom customer partner Waitsfield and Champlain Valley Telecom out of Vermont, this effort has resulted in hundreds of new video subscribers with the new service after a speedy, effective implementation.

“Dascom was easy to work with, and got us up and running very quickly. They are a great partner.”- Kurt Gruendling, VP Business Development, Waitsfield and Champlain Valley Telecom
