Comcast MediaExpress, launched today by Comcast Media Solutions, is a centralized management and distribution service that will oversee the relationship between content providers and video-on-demand (VOD) content to broadcast, streaming, social media, and digital platforms.
The goal of the new service is to enable monetization strategies for subscription VOD (SVOD), advertising VOD (AVOD), transactional VOD (TVOD), and Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV (FAST) partners.
ComcastMedia Express, Comcast Technology Solutions says, is a single platform that ingests video, metadata, and supporting files for centralized management and distribution of long and short form video.
Comcast Technology Solutions Senior Vice President and General Manager of Streaming, Broadcast & Advertising Bart Spriester called management and distribution of short and long form video in today’s fragmented marketplace “a daunting task.”
“…Comcast MediaExpress provides efficiency, scale, and reliability for their VOD distribution efforts, so even more of their creative energy can stay focused on content creation and monetization,” he said in the service announcement.
Among the features:
- Simplified Single Ingest: Comcast MediaExpress enables publishers to streamline their integration efforts through one distribution platform that simplifies and automates content workflows for VOD distribution.
- The ability to deliver secure, high-quality exchanges of content and metadata, on-time and in spec, across operator platforms and distribution points. It features an intuitive UI dashboard for end-to-end visibility and status reporting.
- Direct access to leading multichannel video programming distributors (MVPDs) and popular OTT distribution platforms, Comcast MediaExpress conforms VOD titles to the unique specifications of all distribution partners.
- Comcast MediaExpress can transform source metadata to site-specific end-point metadata. This saves time and reduces complexity, according to the company. It can be combined with CTS’ VideoAI for metadata augmentation, ad marker detection and insertion, and automated quality control of premium content.
The service supports all major monetization models.
In November, CTS unveiled its Cloud TV platform, a multi-platform TV for both broadcast and OTT. It is delivered from the cloud through a managed 24/7 service.
