Comcast Expanding Broadband in Connecticut

Comcast is expanding its Xfinity fiber network to nearly 73,000 additional homes and businesses in Fairfield County, Connecticut, the company announced today.

The fiber network expansion will include Xfinity Internet and Xfinity Mobile as well as Comcast Business Internet and Comcast Business Mobile. The projects are part of Comcast’s ongoing expansion in the state, where the company has invested nearly $400 million in technology and infrastructure over the last three years.

The expansion will bring these services to the following Connecticut communities:

  • Norwalk: The first of 43,000 homes and businesses will have the Comcast fiber-based services later this month, with the project expected to be finished by the end of 2026.
  • Stratford: Nearly 23,000 homes and businesses, some of which already have the expanded services. The full build-out is expected to be completed by the end of next year.
  • Wilton: More than 7,000 homes and business will receive services by the end of 2026, with some of them connecting later this month.

In addition to its fiber build-out, over the last three years Comcast has provided $12.4 million in cash and in-kind charitable contributions to support 195 nonprofits across the state, the company said.

Comcast  has been providing faster speeds over much of its network, using a combination of fiber and DOCSIS 4.0.

“By expanding our gigabit-speed network to all of Stratford, Norwalk, and Wilton, Comcast is providing a new option for residents and businesses looking for fast, reliable Internet and mobile services,” said Carolyne Hannan, Senior Vice President of Comcast’s New England region. “[Comcast is] proud to continue investing in Connecticut with our latest fiber expansion, and our local technicians and retail teams are dedicated to delivering an exceptional experience to more consumers across Fairfield County.”
