The purpose of the Broadband Expansion Grant Program is to encourage the deployment of advanced telecommunications capability in underserved areas of the state. This state program was established in 2014 and follows statutory requirements set forth in Wis. Stat. § 196.504. Successful applicants will demonstrate a clear and achievable plan to improve broadband communications services in one or more underserved areas in the state.

Wisconsin’s Broadband Infrastructure Projects program is a competitive grant program that aims to invest in broadband infrastructure projects designed to provide consistent, reliable service to households in Wisconsin that currently lack consistent speeds of 100/20 Mbps. The program is designed to provide internet service with speeds of 100/100 Mbps symmetrical to locations upon project completion. The fund received $42 million from the Treasury Capital Projects Fund.
