ACP Households Can Now Get Verizon Fixed Wireless for Free

The Verizon Forward program is expanding to offer select 5G Home and LTE Home Internet fixed wireless services for free through the Verizon Forward program. Verizon Forward is part of Citizen Verizon, the avenue through which the carrier participates in the FCC’s Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP).

The ACP – in which subscribers must be enrolled to participate in the new Verizon offers — provides qualifying consumers $30 toward their monthly bill. The amount is $75 for those living on Tribal Lands. Eligible households contributing between $10 and $30 can get as much as $100 toward the cost of a device.

ACP eligibility is determined by the FCC and verified by the Universal Service Administrative Co. To participate, households must be enrolled in Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) or Lifeline programs, participate in other Federal assistance programs (such as Medicaid or SSI) or must have a household income of less than 200% of the Federal Poverty Guideline.

“Digital inclusion is not just nice to have, but a necessity. It is critical that we offer accessible, affordable and usable digital solutions. Income should not be a barrier for reliable connectivity, which is why it’s so important that we provide free Verizon Home Internet to ACP-qualifying customers across the country,” Verizon chairman and CEO Hans Vestberg said in a press release about the ACP Verizon fixed wireless news. “Through programs like ACP and the Verizon Forward Program, we’re putting the power of technology in the hands of more families across the country and continuing the important work to achieve universal digital inclusion.”

Verizon announced its participation in the ACP program under the Fios Forward label in March.  The company said it planned to invest more than $3 billion in Citizen Verizon from 2020 to 2025.

Verizon also offers a relatively low-cost version of its fixed wireless service that doesn’t require ACP enrollment but does require a premium 5G mobile plan. In June, the company launched fixed wireless access (FWA) and fiber broadband services – including Fios Home Internet, 5G Home Internet and LTE Home Internet – for as little as $25 per month.

The offer was made available to those with automatic payments and a premium 5G mobile plan. The Fios offer is for the 300 Mbps fiber broadband plan.
