About 15 years ago, I had a vision for creating a blog and newsletter that covered the evolving telecom landscape. The telecom industry was beginning to feel a lot more competition back then, and I felt like there was a lot to learn from that.

As a result, Telecompetitor was born. It was literally a play on the word’s telecom and competitor. I felt like telecom carriers, especially small tier 2 and 3 carriers, needed a resource to help them get better at competition. They needed to become telecompetitors. Here’s my very first post. We’ve come a long way!

Fast forward to 2022, and my career is entering a change of season. My time as publisher and editor-in-chief for Telecompetitor is coming to an end, effective November 30, 2022.

It’s been an incredible run and I appreciate the growing Telecompetitor community. Many of you have been here since the beginning, and we would be nothing without you. And of course, thanks to all of our advertisers and sponsors, especially the ones who took a leap of faith with me in the beginning. So thanks to this incredible community for your support over all these years.

As I exit, this publication and community will live on and thrive. I’m happy to announce that Joan Engebretson, a long time executive editor, will be taking over my editorial responsibilities as the new managing editor. I leave Telecompetitor in her very capable hands and in the hands of our parent company Pivot Group. Other Telecompetitor team members remain as well, including Tocia Johnson, who has been instrumental to our long term success.

As for me, I’m headed to a new adventure at Frost and Sullivan, a management consulting and research firm, and stepping away from the online publishing world. If you would like to connect, follow me on LinkedIn or drop me a note at bernie@telecompetitor.com before November 30th.

Telecompetitor has been a highlight of my career for sure. I look forward to transitioning from running this publication to becoming a faithful subscriber. Thanks again for all your support and for allowing Telecompetitor to be a part of your past and future online world. Take care!
