The program covers some costs of broadband deployment projects that invest in capital assets designed to enable work, education, and health monitoring. Requirements include:
• Utilize future-proof technology
• Networks should support 100/100 service day 1
• Exceptions will be considered
• Service provider shall provide a % of the capital cost
• Not funded from another state or fed program
• Funding will be limited to authorized CAPEX
• Not available for OPEX or other ineligible costs
• Must address unserved or underserved addresses
• Company financial viability is required

Broadband North Dakota, a competitive grant program, is designed to address the needs of North Dakotans who currently lack access to reliable, affordable high-speed internet. The program aims to provide sustainable, future-proof connectivity to areas in the state lacking connectivity of at least 100/20 Mbps, including tribal lands. The program received $43.5M through the federal Capital Projects Fund.
