May 21, 2014 — BOULDER, Colo.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Zayo Group, LLC (“Zayo”), a global Bandwidth Infrastructure provider, today announced the expansion of its small cell solutions platform across the U.S. in high-usage areas, providing enhanced mobile coverage and capacity. The company is expanding in eight markets, including Chicago, Grand Rapids, Houston, Indianapolis, Las Vegas, Louisville, Minneapolis and Phoenix. The expansions are expected to be completed over the 2015 calendar year.
To meet increasing demand for mobile data, Zayo’s small cell solutions will enable carriers to offer high-quality wireless service by bringing 4G LTE network speeds closer to the end-user. The new small cells are being deployed in indoor and outdoor locations, with the majority installed on utility poles and light poles in each market. Additional installations will offload data traffic in dense, high-volume cellular areas such as stadiums, arenas, airports and shopping centers.
“Still in their infancy, small cells are seeing exponential growth as mobile bandwidth demands continue to explode,” said Jacob Fuller, director of the Small Cell Strategic Product Group at Zayo Group. “Zayo is committed to improving the mobile experience through the support of our customers’ networks.”
