July 17, 2014 — TDS Telecom (TDS®) announces 1Gig high-speed Internet service is now available in New London, New Hampshire. This follows the recent introduction of TDS TV availability in New London.
New London becomes the second city in New Hampshire where TDS is rolling out its fastest speed ever—one gigabit per second—and it’s available for less than $100 per month with a bundle. First introduced in Hollis, N.H. in May, the new 1Gig Internet speed is designed to meet the ever-growing demand by customers for bandwidth. Real-time entertainment, according to recent data, accounts for more than 67 percent of all downstream Internet traffic during peak hours. With TDS’ 1Gbps download/400 Mbps upload, customers can transfer HD movies in seconds and stream them seamlessly—even on multiple devices.
“There are virtually no limitations with 1Gig,” says Matt Apps, manager of Internet Product Management and Development at TDS. “The speed is one hundred times faster than the U.S. average. With 1Gig Internet service, customers can use the Internet full-throttle.”
TDS’ 1Gig Internet service includes a free subscription to Remote PC Support which provides unlimited access to technical expertise. Remote PC Support technicians assist with device setup, Internet troubleshooting, computer optimization, and safety.
“Both TDS TV and 1Gig offer the best technology out there,” says Apps. “As New London is the second TDS-served community with 1Gig service, we plan to extend it to more communities in the coming weeks.”
TDS TV, which uses the Mediaroom® platform, features more than 260 all-digital channels (including HD), video-on-demand, pay-per-view, picture-in-picture channel surfing, and instant channel change. It also includes a Connected-Home DVR, which links all TVs together in a home giving full DVR functionality to each set-top box. Wireless set-top boxes are also available.
