T-Mobile Blink Camera

T-Mobile is offering those switching to its fixed wireless 5G Home Internet service a free package that includes the Blink Outdoor 4 two-camera system and the Blink Mini Pan-Tilt camera. The carrier says that the incentive is worth $229.97.

T-Mobile 5G Internet does not require professional installation. It costs $60 per month alone and $40 per month when bundled with a voice service.

Home and small business security is considered a great potential service for telecommunications companies because they already have bidirectional connectivity to the subscriber premises. The attraction is even greater as home and small business owners become increasingly interested in video security services.

For instance, in October 2022, Windstream said that its Kinetic Secure Home DIY home security system was adding a video doorbell camera option. This option, the company said, enables customers to “monitor their homes, track deliveries and visitors, day and night, from wherever they are.”

GVTC Communications launched Arlo Secure connected cameras in November 2022. In January of the next year, Calix said that the service had exceeded launch signup goals by 200%.

It is an active sector. In June 2022, Strategy Analytics said that the top five companies were Ring, Arlo, Wyze, Google’s Nest and Alarm.com.

The five together shipped more than 14 million cameras during the previous year. That was about 20% of the 72 million cameras that the companies shipped in total. The category “roared back” roared back from the previous year driven by entry-level cameras from APAC-based brands, according to the report.

In May 2022, SimpliSafe’s home security system was made available for free on Verizon 5G Home Internet and Fios services The setup featured HD indoor home cameras, two entry sensors, a keypad, a base station and a month of free professional monitoring. The company said that the package was worth more than $400.
