SEPTEMBER 02, 2022 – BEAUMONT, Texas — Spectrum today announced the launch of Spectrum Internet, Mobile, TV and Voice services to more than 2,670 homes and small businesses in rural Jefferson County, Texas.
Spectrum’s newly constructed fiber-optic network buildout is part of the company’s approximately $5 billion investment in unserved rural communities, which includes $1.2 billion won in the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) RDOF auction. The company’s RDOF expansion will provide broadband access to approximately 1 million customer locations as estimated by the FCC across
24 states in the coming years.
“Today’s announcement is great news for residents in Jefferson County who lacked a broadband connection at home until now,” said Speaker of the House Dade Phelan (TX-76). “Spectrum’s high-speed broadband will bring economic opportunity to this community.”
Spectrum Internet Gig, with download speeds of 1 Gbps, is now available throughout the buildout area. Spectrum Internet offers starting speeds of 300 Mbps, with Spectrum Internet Ultra providing download speeds of 500 Mbps. For small and medium-sized businesses, Spectrum Business Internet offers download speeds of 300 Mbps, 600 Mbps and 1 Gbps. Local residents and business owners should visit spectrumruralexpansion.com to learn more about when their home or business may be able to receive Spectrum services.
“Through RDOF, Spectrum is making a multiyear investment to extend gigabit broadband networks to unserved communities across America,” said Abe Robinson, Vice President of Construction leading Spectrum’s New Mexico, Texas and Louisiana RDOF expansions. “Our commitment is making it possible to deliver the high-value broadband, mobile, TV and voice services now available in rural Jefferson County. We are providing superior connectivity to local residents and small businesses at highly competitive prices, backed by an organization committed to craftsmanship and service.”
Ranked by U.S. News & World Report as the Best Internet Service Provider for Rural Areas in its 2021-22 ratings, Spectrum Internet also exceeded advertised download and upload speeds for all tiers measured — even during peak weeknight usage between 7 and 11 p.m. — according to the FCC’s most recent “Measuring Broadband America Fixed Broadband Report” issued in December 2021. And all Spectrum Internet plans have no data caps, modem fees or contracts.
“Ensuring our rural communities in Jefferson County have reliable, high-speed internet is critical,” said U.S. Rep. Randy Weber Sr. (TX-14). “Charter’s network expansion through the FCC’s Rural Digital Opportunity Fund is a step in the right direction to ensure families and small businesses have access to reliable broadband they need to live, work, and thrive.”
Spectrum’s Robinson credited Jefferson County officials and Entergy for enabling a prompt RDOF deployment.
“Permitting processes and access to local utility poles are key to bringing these RDOF projects to fruition,” Robinson said. “Entergy moved quickly to help us access their poles and install new infrastructure, and local government representatives helped us navigate the necessary permitting procedures so we were able to start work without delay. Everyone’s cooperation made it possible for Jefferson County residents to begin enjoying improved broadband services at a much quicker pace.”

We were excited to have Spectrum use fiber cable to connect us in rural Hunt County to high speed internet and cable. However they have been a nightmare in trying to get anyone out here to bury our “service” cable that has stretched across our front yard since 6/22/2022.
