Segra and Unite Private Networks Merge Under a Single Brand

Segra and Unite Private Networks (UPN) announced this week that they have completed their brand merger and will, in the future, operate under the Segra brand.

The new standalone company serves more than 20,000 connected customer locations in 24 states across 44,000 fiber-route miles. Further growth is expected. In the most recent development, Segra announced the acquisition of Everstream’s all-fiber network in the St. Louis metropolitan area, adding nearly 1,000 fiber miles to its network.

To mark the completion of the merger with Unite Private Networks, Segra is unveiling a refreshed brand and revamped website.

“The combined strengths and expertise of both Segra and UPN create an unstoppable force, opening up an exciting new chapter in our journey,” Kevin Anderson, Segra CEO, said in a prepared statement. “With our unified team, expanded commercial technology solutions and vast network, we’re ready to deliver even greater value to our customers, reaching new markets and innovating in ways that will redefine the future of connectivity.”

The merger between Segra and Unite Private Networks was first announced in July 2023. The combined entity will offer broadband connectivity, cybersecurity, cloud, and collaboration solutions.

Segra is a standalone fiber company owned by Cox Communications. Cox Communications acquired Segra a little more than three years ago. At the time, Pat Esser, President and CEO of Cox Communications, said. “Acquiring Segra’s commercial services business is another key milestone in our pursuit of strategic infrastructure to ensure that we’re providing the best products and services to our customers.”

The Segra brand was established after the combination of Lumos and Spirit Communications two years earlier.
