Schurz Launches Flight Mobile, a 5G MVNO Service

Schurz Communications, which has made a name for itself in the print publishing industry, and more recently entered the broadband business, is entering the mobile market by launching Flight Mobile, a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) 5G service to complement the company’s broadband service.

Flight Mobile, which will debut at Antietam Broadband in Washington and Carroll County, Maryland this year, will be an MVNO providing coverage over a national 5G network. Flight Mobile was created in partnership with the National Content & Technology Cooperative (NCTC). The announcement said that Schurz Communications intends the new service “to bring added value to broadband customers.”

“Our introduction of Flight Mobile is an exciting convergence of broadband and mobile,” Diego Anderson, Schurz Communications executive vice president of broadband said in a prepared statement.

“The launch of Flight Mobile reaffirms our commitment to delivering innovative products at affordable prices to our customers. Flight Mobile is the latest addition to our innovative suite of products which includes Flight Fiber and Flight Video. These products extend the value of the broadband services we provide to the communities we serve, and we will continue to invest in such opportunities.”

According to the Flight Mobile website, plans start at $20 per month per line, which includes 3GB of data, unlimited talk and texting, no fees for hotspot data usage, and the ability to buy “data top-ups.”

MVNO operations like Flight Mobile are gaining more interest due to more flexible contracts, reviews and recommendations, specialized services, support for small businesses, enhanced privacy features, exclusive promotions, ethical business practices and AI integration. Earlier this year, TDS Telecommunications launched a nationwide mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) service, also in partnership with the NCTC.
