Woodruff, S.C. — (August 21, 2024) — Ripple Fiber, a fiber optic internet provider based in the Southeast, announces its partnership with Open Broadband, an internet service provider focused on underserved areas. This joint initiative kicks off after Open Broadband was awarded a grant from the South Carolina Broadband Office in 2023 to build a fiber internet network for residents living in Woodruff, South Carolina. With project completion anticipated for December 2024, the current plan includes over 750 homes, where residents can soon pre-order service.

The grant received is part of the South Carolina 2022 American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) 1.0 Broadband Grant Program. Last year, Open Broadband was awarded these funds to expand digital access through the construction of a fiber internet network in South Carolina’s Spartanburg County. This investment lays the foundation for potential expansion to even more homes in the future to continually support the growing digital needs of the community.
