PRINCETON, New Jersey – February 19, 2016 – RCN, an industry-leading provider of high-speed Internet, digital TV and phone services announced today that it is among the first U.S. cable providers to offer HBO GO, the authenticated streaming service from HBO®, through its advanced DVR powered by TiVo. RCN’s DVR powered by TiVo now enables users to access all HBO programming via the HBO GO app, in addition to Live TV, On Demand and other web content through one single device, eliminating the complexity of multiple boxes.
The HBO GO app on TiVo devices provides TiVo users who are active HBO linear subscribers with access to HBO’s entire library of original series, hit movies, documentaries, and other premium programming. HBO GO content is integrated into TiVo Search and TiVo’s OnePass™ selections, giving TiVo users a way to access an even more comprehensive catalog faster than ever before.
“Watching popular content from the HBO GO app just became a lot more convenient,” said Chris Fenger, Chief Operating Officer for RCN. “Our customers can now easily enjoy all HBO GO programming from either the big screen in their living room or on mobile devices – anytime, anywhere.”
”RCN remains at the forefront of innovation in the cable TV industry, and we are very excited to partner with them to provide their users with easier access to HBO GO and our incredible line up of programming,” said Joseph Bahr, Vice President, Worldwide Digital Distribution & Business Development for HBO.
“TiVo is proud to continue to enhance the entertainment experience for RCN customers by establishing content partnerships that further their access to top-quality programming,” said Tara Maitra, SVP, GM of Content and Media Sales for TiVo. “By partnering with HBO to offer the HBO GO app, TiVo is enabling their operator partners to provide premium content to their customer base in a single set-top box.”
