Kinetic by Windstream Teams Up with AT&T

Windstream’s Kinetic brand and AT&T are collaborating to provide customers across Kinetic’s 18-state footprint with the benefits of AT&T’s 5G network and Kinetic’s broadband internet.

According to Windstream, demand has increased for converged connectivity for existing customers looking to save on connectivity, and for new customers who are looking for a reliable connectivity experience.

Additionally, tens of millions of Americans still lack access to broadband internet, which is contributing to detrimental effects on families, schools and businesses, according to government and industry analysts. AT&T and Kinetic have undertaken efforts to close this digital divide.

AT&T previously committed $5 billion over the next 10 years for this effort, and Kinetic is in the midst of a multiyear $2 billion investment to upgrade its digital infrastructure. They have also launched other customer-friendly programs, like their free Digital Literacy Program.

The collaboration announced today:

  • Offers existing AT&T wireless customers Kinetic’s high-speed Internet for a $20 monthly discount for two years.
  • Provides new AT&T/Kinetic customers the same discount when the service is bundled with AT&T. The two services are billed separately.
  • Gives a $200 gift card to new and existing Kinetic customers who switch to AT&T Wireless.

Windstream has promoted the Kinetic brand with other offers in the past, including free upgrades.

Separate from today’s announcement, Kinetic  has also sought to close the digital divide with funding it received from the state of North Carolina.

“This is another monumental step to bring industry-leading quality and affordability to the communities Kinetic serves,” Ben Midanek, Kinetic’s chief marketing officer, said in a statement about the AT&T partnership. “Our customers already enjoy the fastest internet options available, and now, coupled with AT&T’s fast, reliable and secure service, our customers will be able to stream, work and learn at lightning-fast speeds, while at home or on the road.”
