GFiber Open for Business in Murfreesboro, Tennessee

Google Fiber has begun serving businesses in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and will soon offer its GFiber service to residential customers, the company says.

The fiber provider, which brands itself as GFiber, is offering two business plans. The 1 Gig plan is priced at $100 per month and the 2 Gigabit service at $250 per month, according to Nick Fischer, the General Manager for the company’ Southern Region.

The post announcing the GFiber Tennessee offering says that the residential service — which is “just around the corner” — will offer three products that were trialed earlier this year:

  • The Core 1 Gig is aimed at “basic wants and fundamental needs” and is priced at $70 per month.
  • Home 3 Gig is aimed at homes that require support for multiple devices. It is priced at $100 per month.
  • The Edge 8 Gig product is aimed at heavy use households. It is priced at $150 per month.

The suite of services was piloted in Tennessee and Alabama and is available for GFiber customers in Arizona and North Carolina.

In January, a local website in suburban Austin, Texas called Community Impact reported that the city of Bee Cave and Google Fiber had reached an agreement involving the use of public rights-of-way to install a fiber network.

The agreement, which needed necessary approvals, covered design, engineering and construction. The project is to be completed by the end of next year. Bee Cave is about 16 miles west of Austin.

Beyond its Tennessee plans, GFiber said that it had broken ground on a network on the westside of Las Vegas, Nevada in January of this year.
