Dobson Fiber’s Expansion Plans Advance

Dobson Fiber announced today that it is rolling out the next phase of its broadband expansion plan in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and surrounding communities. The engineering designs are now complete in much of that service territory. The company is in the midst of permitting, building out infrastructure and connecting customers.

The current Dobson Fiber expansion was made possible, in part, from financing from iCON Infrastructure Partners V, which partnered with Dobson Fiber a couple of years ago to provide support for Dobson’s $700 million fiber deployment plan across Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas.

Oklahoma City, Yukon, Edmond, Midwest City, Del City, Norman, and neighboring communities are included in Dobson Fiber’s Oklahoma City MSA, while the Tulsa MSA includes Tulsa, Broken Arrow, Owasso, Sapulpa, Jenks, and other surrounding areas.

Dobson Fiber’s internet deployments now include more than 35 communities across Oklahoma, as well as five Arkansas communities.

“At Dobson Fiber, we believe in the power of connectivity to transform communities regardless of location or size,” said CEO Francisco Maella of the Dobson Fiber expansion plans. “This investment is a testament to our commitment to bring advanced broadband technology to urban centers and the rural areas that need it most. With this expansion, we continue to offer our customers the fastest and most reliable internet speeds available while making a positive impact on the communities we serve.”

Dobson Fiber’s expansion is the next step in the company’s long history in the communications and broadband space. The company started providing telecommunications services in Oklahoma in 1936, when it was founded by E.R. “Doc” Dobson.

The Dobson Family retained significant ownership of the company, with the family and iCON Infrastructure supporting Dobson Fiber’s management team and workforce.
