June 4, 2012 — Washington, DC – Today, RCA – The Competitive Carriers Association announced Clearwire as its newest member.  Clearwire shares many of the same advocacy concerns as RCA’s over 100 carrier members and has joined RCA to help fight for issues critical to wireless competitive carriers.  Clearwire partners with technology and telecommunications leaders to provide 4G mobile broadband services and also offers products and services under the CLEAR brand to serve over 11 million customers on its 4G network, which currently covers more than 130 million people in the U.S.

“I am delighted to welcome Clearwire to RCA,” said RCA President & CEO Steven K. Berry, “And I look forward to working with them on policy issues most important to competitive carriers.  For consumers to continue to benefit from dynamic, innovative services like Clearwire’s 4G mobile broadband network, it is absolutely essential that policymakers work to restore a competitive marketplace.”

In a statement, Don Stroberg, Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships & Wholesale of Clearwire said, “It gives us great pleasure to join the RCA at an important time in the wireless industry. The many issues facing our business, including competitive balance, the spectrum crisis and the rapidly growing consumer demand for mobile broadband all require the type of cooperation and solutions that Clearwire is well positioned to provide. Our deep spectrum portfolio can be an important resource for relieving the growing capacity strain on today’s 4G deployments. We look forward to working with our fellow members and the RCA leadership on these and other key issues in the months and years ahead.”
