Making inroads into the lucrative online video games market, Cablevision yesterday announced that its iO TV digital TV service subscribers are playing more than 10 million free, casual interactive games on iO TV channel 610 per month. Cablevision’s iO TV carries more than 20 ActiveVideo TAG Games titles appropriate for both adults and children. More than 275,000 iO TV customer households play the games daily, with more than 1,000 being new to them, according to a Cablevision press release.
ActiveVideo’s CloudTV app platform enables iO TV subscribers to play alone or against one another, using TV remote controls to do so. Key features of TAG Games include:
- Real-time multiplayer network games
- Player profiles to store high scores and achievements
- High scores visible across Cablevision’s New York-metro service area
- Fast load time
“We are thrilled that our customers are finding and playing TAG Games on iO TV, and taking advantage of the exciting ability to play live, house-to-house, against other customers,” said Bradley Feldman, Cablevision’s vice president, video product management. “Every month, our customers are spending approximately 1.7 million hours on channel 610 playing TAG Games, nearly 3 million games a week. Whether it’s a High Stakes Hold ‘Em tournament, or action-packed Word Champ battle, these games are delivering fun and value to our customers, and turning channel 610 into a frequent destination.”
