Press Release

Ridgeland, Mississippi – November 21, 2022 – C Spire, a diversified telecommunications and technology services company based in Mississippi has continued to invest in wireless enhancements in the Mississippi Gulf Coast area. C Spire’s wireless network, as well as how customers utilize it, is always evolving. In fact, in Mississippi, the average customer uses their smartphone about five and a half hours every day. This is 35% more than the global average.

“Wireless data usage has continued to grow at an enormous rate. The average wireless subscriber is using more data, and this is being fueled primarily by increased viewing of video content,” said Alan Jones, Chief Network Officer for C Spire. He added, “Increasing our network capacity and keeping up with the needs of our customers is very important to C Spire.”

The strategic goal is to consistently improve the customer experience on C Spire’s network by adding capacity and coverage at micro and macro cell sites to stay ahead of customer needs. Therefore, C Spire constantly monitors customer usage and usage patterns to ensure the customer’s experience is a good one.

“We have also increased capacity by adding small cells and enhancements near schools because so many of our customers are impacted positively with these changes,” Jones continued. “Parents in the student pickup line need to stay connected for remote work, and many watch videos or scroll through social media to pass time while waiting. Coverage in school is more important than ever as many students and educators utilize our devices for emergencies while around the schools.”
