Recognizing the competitive reality, AT&T promises that it will be able to deliver multiple HD streams through its U-verse platform by the end of 2007. Of course, talk is cheap, and time will tell whether this becomes reality. AT&T recognizes as most IPTV operators do – HDTV is a requirement to compete with DBS and cableTV for the coveted triple play subscriber. The fact that copper loops makes it more challenging is of no consequence to subscribers.

Multiple HD streams will become more of a reality, as early HDTV adopters replace their intital HDTV set with newer versions and move the older one into the bedroom or family room. Households with multiple HD sets are now a reality.
