Windstream Get’s in on Tablet Craze

LITTLE ROCK, Ark., July 19, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Windstream Communications is adding the Samsung Galaxy Tab™ (Wi-Fi Only) to its lineup of cameras, computers and other electronics offered to residential customers in retail stores and online.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab™ (Wi-Fi Only) offers 16 gigabytes of memory and operates on the Android™ 2.2 operating system. Windstream customers can easily connect the device to their home network via their high-speed Internet connection or to wireless hotspots in places like airports, restaurants and libraries.

“The Galaxy Wi-Fi model eliminates the need for Windstream customers to purchase a monthly wireless data plan and commit to a contract with a wireless carrier,” according to David Redmond, vice president of consumer marketing at Windstream. “The tablet also features a Social Hub allowing customers to integrate their email and favorite social networking sites.”

Other features of the Samsung Galaxy Tab™ (Wi-Fi Only) include:Full color, 7 inch touch screen;

  • Front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera ideal for video chatting;
  • Rear 3.0 megapixel camera/camcorder with auto focus and flash;
  • HD video player;
  • Adobe® Flash® 10.1 compatible to make the most of games, ebooks, music and video;
  • Access to more than 80,000 applications on the Android Market™.

Qualified Windstream customers can purchase the Samsung Galaxy Tab™ (Wi-Fi Only) for $369.99 or in six monthly installments of less than $62 per month. It is available at any of Windstream’s 61 retail stores or online at www.windstreamphones.com.
