Dallas, Texas and Stockholm, Sweden – June 20, 2012 – Transmode, a global supplier of packet optical networking solutions, today announced that XO Communications has selected Transmode’s TM-Series for metro capacity expansion across XO Communications’ nationwide network.
Under the new five-year agreement, Transmode will supply its TM-Series platform to address XO Communications’ need for broader and more cost-effective functionality across its nationwide network. Transmode will also provide a comprehensive services package to complement XO Communications’ capabilities, including training, installation and ongoing technical support. The new deployments with XO Communications will commence immediately.
“As we continue to innovate in our data and IP services portfolio of data on such a large network, we constantly strive for the best and most cost-effective solutions in all areas of our network,” said Randy Nicklas, senior vice president and chief technology officer for XO Communications. “Selecting a supplier with the right solutions and vision for the future is important to us, and Transmode’s TM-Series is ideally suited to help us continue to expand our metro network capacity.”

The TM-Series will provide XO Communications with a optimized WDM platform for metro/regional networks capable of carrying 80 channels at speeds of up to 100 Gbit/s. Initial deployments will supply XO Communications with Gigabit Ethernet and 10G Ethernet connectivity including WDM muxponders and low latency transponders. In addition to supporting XO Communications’ expansion in Ethernet based services, the TM-Series will also support legacy SONET services.
The ease-of-use features of the award winning TM-Series and Transmode Network Manager enables XO Communications to further reduce ongoing operational costs. The combination of lower capital and operational costs provides XO Communications with increased agility as they expand to meet customer demands.
