Windstream, the Little Rock, Ar based ILEC, continues to enhance its small medium business (SMB) product portfolio with the announcement of new business bundles today. Features for these new bundles include “e-mail hosting with free domain registration, 5GB of online data backup with dedicated customer support and Web hosting support teams.”
Windstream also throws in a “Lifetime Price Guarantee” for these new bundles for good measure. The moves illustrate a growing emphasis on SMB services for Windstream. Other recent announcements include a new SIP trunking product and a new business focused web presence.
Of course Windstream’s loudest signal yet that they covet the SMB market is their recent acquisition of NuVox, a Greenville, SC based CLEC with an extensive SMB footprint across 16 states. Windstream has made clear that these SMB moves are all about diversification beyond local residential phone service. At the time of the NuVox acquisition, Windstream reported that over half of their total revenue will come from broadband and business services, post NuVox acquisition closing.
