Nov 01, 2016 — LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Windstream (NASDAQ:WIN), a leading provider of advanced network communications, today announced that it has completed the construction and delivery of customized network solutions, including fiber builds, into six military and government installations on behalf of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA).

Windstream delivered the customized network solutions to Sheppard Air Force Base, Naval Air Station Albany, McGhee Tyson Airfield, Naval Station Great Lakes, Kellogg Air National Guard Air Field, and Defense Logistics Agency – Battle Creek. The solutions will play a pivotal role in supporting DISA’s combat support mission.

Since early 2016, Windstream has been expanding its local metro fiber networks, fixed wireless markets and long-haul network across the country. The company recently announced metro fiber network expansion in Minneapolis, Charlotte, Nashville, Atlanta, Chicago, Philadelphia, Cleveland and Richmond, and a fixed wireless expansion into 40 markets across the country.

“Our customers, whether they are federal agencies, system integrators or small business partners, demand highly secure, reliable and scalable solutions,” Kilbey added. “Our ability to offer these solutions combined with our willingness to construct fiber into customer locations allows Windstream to support customers’ immediate needs while also preparing them for future services such as SDN, NFV and 400G.”
