Vero Fiber Networks has finalized its acquisition of Velocity Fiber, a fiber provider serving the K-12 E-Rate market across four states, the company announced.
The deal expands Vero’s footprint in what it described as its foundational vertical. Founded to serve the K-12 market, Vero now serves wholesale, technology, enterprise, and retail internet customers across 27 states and more than 370 markets.
Vero said the two companies’ compatible infrastructure models would enable it to integrate Velocity Fiber’s private fiber networks into its broader operations without disrupting service to existing customers.
“Our company was founded on the belief that K-12 schools deserve high-speed, private fiber infrastructure,” said Vero Senior Vice President, E-Rate Vertical Mary White in the press release. She added that Vero had long admired Velocity Fiber’s dedicated bandwidth offerings and support for school districts and looks forward to extending that same level of service to Velocity Fiber’s customers.
According to Vero, the transition of network management is already underway and will not require any action from customers, who will continue receiving service without interruption.
The Velocity Fiber deal is the latest in a string of acquisitions for Vero, which has been actively consolidating smaller providers. In November, Vero announced a planned merger with Telephone Electronics Corporation, a provider offering fiber internet service in Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee. Vero has also expanded into Montana and Colorado through acquisitions and has built out fiber-to-the-premises service in California.
