Vero Fiber Expands Into Montana With MtnMax Acquisition

In a deal between regional FTTP service providers, Vero Broadband LLC has acquired Montana Digital LLC, which operates in Bigfork, Columbia Falls, Kalispell, and Whitefish, Montana.

“We are thrilled to welcome Montana Digital to the Vero family,” Vero Broadband CEO Sunita Krishna said in a press release

“Montana Digital has built an impressive fiber broadband business, and we are excited to build upon its success. This acquisition aligns with our strategy of partnering with regional providers to scale operations while maintaining a strong local presence.”

The press release did not include terms of the transaction or any other details. Vero Broadband does business as Vero Fiber and Montana Digital operates under the MtnMax brand.

Montana joins California, Colorado, and Texas as states in which Vero Fiber is active, according to the company’s website. All the Texas and California systems and some of those in Colorado are noted as being under construction. It is unclear if any or all of them currently serve subscribers.

Last September 26, the California Public Utilities Commission announced approval of $172 million in last mile funding for 14 broadband projects. Vero was the recipient of $4.3 million in the funding round.

Vero also was an award winner in in the $9.5 million Advance Colorado CPF Fund in March, 2024. The biggest winner was the Southern Colorado Economic Development District. That was only $200,000 more than Vero, which won $3.2 million for two projects.

In November, 2023, Vero Fiber said that it would serve the city of Brush, Colorado. The press release said that it would be the first “complete” FTTP deployment in the city.
