Vero Fiber and Telephone Electronics Corporation Announce Merger

Fiber internet provider Vero Fiber is pressing forward with its campaign to acquire small providers across the country; yesterday, it announced a planned merger with Telephone Electronics Corporation (TEC), which offers fiber internet service in Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee.

The purchase is part of Vero Fiber’s strategy to pair “robust organic growth tactics with strategic acquisitions,” according to a press release from the company about the TEC acquisition.

Matt Erickson, Chairman of Vero Fiber, said in the press release that the merger with TEC “will accelerate the delivery of world-class fiber networks to communities that deserve the same level of connectivity found in major metros. TEC has built an exceptional organization rooted in community, quality, and reliability. Their approach to network design, customer care, and disciplined growth mirrors our own, making TEC a natural extension of the Vero platform.”

Terms of the deal were not disclosed in the press release, and it’s not clear when it could be finalized or how TEC customers will be notified of the change.

A subsidiary of VFN Holdings, Inc., Vero Fiber has announced multiple builds and acquisitions in 2025 alone. In July, it announced the acquisition of fiber infrastructure from Ting in Colorado and New Mexico. In March, Vero expanded into Montana with the planned acquisition of Montana Digital LLC.

In addition to its recent acquisitions, the company is building fiber infrastructure. In July, it announced its fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) business was open in Arcata, California. It also does business in Montana, Colorado, Oregon, and Texas.

In September of 2024, Vero Fiber received $4.3 million in funding from the California Public Utilities Commission. In March of that year, Vero was awarded $3.2 million for two projects in Colorado.

Vero Fiber got its start in Colorado in 2017 by providing broadband to schools but has been providing business and residential internet service since 2001, according to its website. TEC, meanwhile, got its start offering telephone service in 1923 and has been offering fiber internet service since 2017.
