Verizon Private Wireless Will Support KPMG Healthcare Lab, AR/VR, AI and More

A Verizon Private 5G wireless network will underlie a new Healthcare Lab for KPMG LLP, a major professional services firm. KPMG clients will be able to use the lab to experiment with cutting edge healthcare technologies.

The KMPG Ignition Center is designed to provide a next-generation digital healthcare experience for clients, using the latest emerging technologies, including Verizon 5G, to create an immersive experience to drive innovation. Innovations and topics explored at the healthcare lab will include AI and computer vision imaging analysis, AR/VR for surgery planning, sustainable building technologies and how technology can bridge the health equity gap.

The goal is to develop “a suite of solutions and use cases to enable seamless, reliable, secure communications” for the healthcare industry that can help transform operations. The solutions are expected to include interconnected hospital operations to optimize provider scheduling, support diagnosis activities and simplify patient interactions.

The goal is to drive a better patient experience and increase insights into overall patient health, at home or at a medical facility.

The collaboration builds on Verizon’s growing healthcare initiatives that tap private wireless and other technologies such as network slicing.

“By bringing together Verizon’s 5G with KPMG’s deep industry experience and track record in improving business processes, we plan to deliver cutting-edge solutions that will close the gap between legacy hospital environments and digital business operations and unlock the value of the end-to-end digital enterprise,” Jennifer Artley, Verizon Business senior vice president, 5G acceleration, said in a prepared statement.

“This collaboration is part of Verizon’s broader strategy to align with enterprises, startups, universities, ecosystem partners and government to explore how 5G and edge compute can disrupt and help transform nearly every industry.”
