Verizon FiOS Raises the Bar With New Interactive Media Guide

Verizon took the wraps off of FiOS’ newest toy – a robust interactive media guide (IMG). The feature list is impressive; 1) 32-bit graphics and 16 million colors, 2) hierarchical, tabbed menu system, 3) network search across TV, DVR, and home media server, and 4) weather, traffic, and news widgets. The new IMG appears to be tightly integrated with both Verizon’s whole home DVR which also interfaces with media stored on a networked PC. Verizon will be launching the FiOS IMG in the Ft. Wayne, IN market first, followed by other select markets throughout the Summer. The FiOS forum on Broadband Reports has already labeled the new IMG FiOS 2.0.

Check out this Verizon FiOS flash presentation, which describes the IMG.
