Truvista Fiber has agreed to acquire the City of Commerce, Georgia’s municipal broadband network, which will operate under the Truvista Fiber name once the acquisition closes.
Truvista said it will provide the municipal network’s customers with a full suite of advanced services. Truvista Fiber will assume ownership and operation of and upgrade the existing City of Commerce’s network infrastructure.
Truvista acquired Slytel in December 2025. The press release said both deals align with the company’s long-term strategic goals of expanding broadband access in growing communities while investing in scalable, future-ready technology.
Current City of Commerce fiber customers do not need to take any action at this time, Truvista Fiber said. The company will maintain continuity of service while implementing network enhancements with minimal disruption.
“Today marks an exciting new chapter for Commerce,” J. Clark Hill III, Commerce mayor, said in a prepared statement. “When we looked at what it would take to upgrade our telecom infrastructure to bring cutting-edge connectivity to support economic growth, education and healthcare to our city, we quickly realized we needed a partner. In Truvista, we found a company that has an understanding of the culture of our town as well as the technical experience to bring a technology-forward future to our businesses.”
Before the acquisition of Commerce’s municipal network, Truvista Fiber acquired Slyvester, Georgia-based municipal telecom provider SlyTel for an undisclosed price at the end of 2025.
“We are committed to enhancing the quality of life in the areas we serve,” Truvista President and CEO Carla French said in a prepared statement at the time. “By keeping our focus on the customer experience, we bring innovation, growth and community progress to local families and businesses.”
