Sacred WindSacred Wind Communications , a privately owned telephone and broadband carrier serving the Navajo nation and other areas in New Mexico, is a finalist in the American Express and NBC Universal sponsored ‘Shine A Light’ promotion.  ‘Shine A Light’ will award $100k in grant money and marketing support dollars to a small business whose “resilience and entrepreneurial spirit can serve as an inspiration to us all.” Sacred Wind is competing against Beacon Paint and Hardware and HappyBaby. As of this post, Sacred Wind is in first place

Sacred Wind was formed in 2006 after purchasing some exchanges from Qwest. “Focused mainly on introducing basic telephone services to the many thousands of unserved homes on Navajo lands, Sacred Wind also has the intent and mission of providing the most advanced services, including high speed Internet services, to Navajo, non-Navajo residents, governmental entities, and businesses in our territory,” says Sacred Wind on their website.  Voting for the contest ends October 16th.
