The consolidated broadband company created when alternative asset firm TPG acquired RCN, Grande Communications, and Wave Broadband today has announced another acquisition — EnTouch Systems, a provider of high-speed internet, video, voice and home security services to the Houston area. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the year.
A press release about the acquisition refers to the consolidated company as “RCN, Grande, Wave” and notes that the company’s Texas footprint already includes Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Waco and Midland/Odessa.Upon closing, the transaction will add approximately 22,000 customers in Texas.
TPG Broadband Acquisitions
In 2017, TPG Capital, TPG’s global private equity platform, acquired RCN and Grande Communications, as Telecompetitor reported. In 2018, the organization completed its acquisition of Wave Broadband, creating the sixth largest cable provider in the U.S. Now a nationwide broadband service platform, the organization provides high-speed internet, broadband, digital TV, phone services and fiber optic offerings for residential and business customers across the United States.

RCN, Grande, Wave added that entering Houston will solidify the companies’ presence in 8 of the top 10 designated market areas in the U.S.
