Total by Verizon Making Strides, Launches Prepaid 5G Home FWA Offering

Verizon’s prepaid business unit, known as Total by Verizon, has added a 5G Home Internet fixed wireless service.

Total by Verizon prepaid mobile service launched in September 2022. It initially was available online and at more than 50,000 retail locations, including Walmart, Target and Dollar General.

The new Total by Verizon 5G Home FWA service offers unlimited data and download speeds as fast as 200 Mbps. It is priced at $45 per month for mobile customers with use of autopay; however, it requires the purchase of a $99.99 router. The service and the router are available online or in stores.

“Total by Verizon recognizes that most of the communities we serve have limited options for home broadband service. We’re about bringing families together and creating meaningful connections, and we believe in making high-speed home internet accessible to everyone,” Ryan Weikert, the managing director of Total by Verizon, said in a press release. “This new offering underlines our commitment to providing affordable connectivity across America.”

The carrier said that during the past year, Total by Verizon has opened hundreds of stores, including more than 50 in the Los Angeles market, and added multiline offerings for unlimited plans. It said that hundreds more retail locations are expected to be opened this year.

Verizon has found success with FWA, which until now has been a postpaid service. Indeed, it now generates most of the carrier’s net broadband additions.
