Tillman Fiber has announced a $100 million investment to construct an open-access fiber network throughout Miami-Dade County, marking one of the largest infrastructure commitments in the region’s recent broadband expansion efforts.
According to the company’s announcement, the new network will deliver enhanced speeds, improved storm resilience, and expanded economic opportunities to residents across Miami-Dade County. Tillman Fiber’s 100% fiber network is engineered with storm-resistant design features, intended to address Miami-Dade’s unique vulnerability to severe weather events that can disrupt broadband services.
Construction on the new network started in June 2025 and will proceed in phases, allowing customers to access services as network segments come online.
Tillman Fiber’s open-access model lets customers select from multiple service providers that rely on the same underlying network infrastructure. The open-access model is designed to reduce costs while improving service quality and customer choice.
The project extends beyond infrastructure development. Tillman Fiber is also committing to local workforce development in Miami-Dade County via hiring and training programs focused on fiber installation, engineering, and network operations. This workforce development aims to create sustainable career opportunities within the community.
“Tillman Fiber’s $100 million investment is a major win for Miami-Dade,” said County Commissioner Kionne McGhee. “This project will not only deliver the next generation of broadband infrastructure but also create good-paying jobs, attract new businesses, and strengthen our competitiveness for years to come.”
“At Tillman Fiber, we are proud to invest in building the infrastructure that will keep this community connected, resilient, and ready for the future,” said Tillman Fiber CEO Ed Chan in a press release about the Miami-Dade County investment.
The investment represents part of Tillman Fiber’s broader billion-dollar expansion strategy targeting underserved communities throughout Florida.
