HUNTSVILLE, Ala.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–ADTRAN®, Inc., (NASDAQ:ADTN), a leading provider of next-generation networking solutions, today announced that Valley Telephone Cooperative, Inc. (VTCI), a LEC and CLEC serving South Texas and recipient of the single largest Broadband Stimulus award in the state, has selected ADTRAN’s broadband portfolio for its Fiber-to-the-Premises (FTTP) rollout. This project will allow VTCI to extend high-bandwidth triple-play and Ethernet services throughout its coverage area, doubling its addressable market for Active Ethernet-based services to over 9,000 new subscribers in the region. In addition to business and residential services, VTCI will also use ADTRAN’s Advanced Operational Environment (AOE) solution to manage video services rollout and simplify their operations.
“ADTRAN listened to our requirements and delivered a specific solution that allows us to offer our customers best-in-class FTTP,” said Dave Osborn, CEO, VTCI. “With our plans to scale to thousands of subscribers, simplicity and ease of deploying services quickly is essential. When combined with ADTRAN’s advanced services management platform, the ADTRAN portfolio delivers on all of the critical components needed to support our large-scale FTTP deployment.”
VTCI considered ADTRAN’s new services management solution a key deciding factor during its evaluation process. With this management system in place, VTCI can leverage a single interface to manage all of its network elements, and more importantly, many of the services for its customer base. The AOE interface provides secure access to specialized tools designed to improve operational efficiencies including ServiceActivator for straightforward and consistent turn up, ServiceMonitor to maintain network integrity, and ServiceCheck for intelligently guided troubleshooting. In addition, ADTRAN management solutions include flexible OSS integration options for enhanced scalability while leveraging the new higher density, single slot, 24-port Active Ethernet Optical Line Terminal (OLT).
“As service provider networks evolve, ADTRAN enables customers, like VTCI, to quickly adapt to rapid changes in network capacity requirements, subscriber usage behavior and demands for high-bandwidth applications,” said Mitch Fleming, regional vice president, sales, ADTRAN Carrier Networks Division. “With unmatched financial stability, deep engineering expertise and award-winning professional services and support, ADTRAN is the ideal choice for carriers looking to upgrade their networks to take advantage of the high-value, rich media services their customers are demanding today.”
